The Mediating Effects of Family-of-Origin Health and Self-differentiation on Parenting Efficacy

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Family-of-Origin Health and Self-differentiation on Parenting Efficacy. A sample of 289 mothers in their 30s¡­50s who have more than 3 years of child-rearing experience in Busan regions were surveyed. For this study, scales including Family-of-Origin Scale(FOS-16), Parenting Efficacy Scale, and Self-differentiation Scale were implemented by participants. The process of the data was estimated by AMOS and SPSS/WIN 18.0. The results of this study were as following: First, positive relationships were found between Family-of-Origin Health and Parenting Efficacy, between Family-of-Origin Health and Self-differentiation, and between Self-differentiation and Parenting Efficacy respectively. Second, Self-differentiation showed a perfect mediating effect on the relationship Family-of-Origin Health and Parenting Efficacy. Findings and implications of this study are discussed.
